Earl - I apologize to you and the other forum members who read this for my part in poisoning what started with your deeply appreciated original post. Earl, WT, dire, hippie, jg, BD, JOTS, Rob and everyone else (almost) - please accept my apologies. I lost 11 friends at the Pentagon 8 years ago and this nerve is still very, very raw.

I fear I may have let my emotions get the upper hand w/ my own sensibilites. No apolgy needed.
I still have friends I served with in the 1st Armor Div. as well as 1st Cav and can speak honestly about brothers in arms. At times I feel guilty that I left them to continue the fight.
Its a cold heartless soul that can take a day of reflection and grief and turn it to be about them and their europeon election (WTF) clueless I guess as to the disipline and sacrafice needed to keep the world safe from terror, despots and the others of the same ilk.
The same praises can be said as Earl or WT said about our first responders.
Pay no mind I 'm sure the fallen would understand and instead of an apology please accept my sincere thank you

Mando, I cant speak for Earl, but no apologies needed. We thank you and all of the others who volunteered their time to serve. No matter what your politics, any caring individual should mourn today and say a prayer that this never happens again. God Bless!

Rick - 'real and regular' is a pretty good description of the kind of guy you are. I know I took to calling you Namor (still recall with pleasure your descriptions of life onboard a submarine) but in the end he's just comicbook - you're the real deal. It's good to have you here.

Mando: We all lost something that day, and we all found something as well. Your apologies are never necessary, you've earned the right to your opinion in my eyes and in my heart. Right now I can't think of anyone I'd rather have my back.

As for the rest of the dust-up, I may plead a slight mea culpa, having foresight enough to guess what was coming. Easy as trapping possums, when you set a trap for coon. I was however offended at the lack of civility from the frog prince, dropping in with total disregard for the topic at hand. The direction the ensuing pandemonium would take was anybody's guess. All I can say is "rapture."

My best thread ever, and truer colors have never been shown, in every regard.

Hey, no apologies to me. I owe you thanks for your service.

I apologize for having messed up Earl's post by addressing Skies. Lesson learned. I thought Earl's original post was a sincere and poignant reminder of today, a day for which I also carry deep personal scars (as do most people I know). In fact, my wife works at the Naval Postgrad School here in Monterey with several folks who colleagues that day. Whatever your politics, pretty callous to dump crap on a simple rememberance of those lost and thanks for those who serve. Sorry for part in mucking up the waters here.

No apologies needed. the postings of true patriots and freedom lovers moved me almost to tears. If it wasn't for the efforts of the US, and (to a lesser extent) Britain we wouldn't have the freedom to post anything, and its not about politics or left wing or right wing, its about mans respect of his fellow man. As has been posted here numerous times before:

On this sad anniversary God Bless America

no apologies necessary here my friend. I am no foe of gut reactions to anyone dissing America on such a day as today (or any day for that matter).

there was nothing wrong with your post imho. Thank you for your years and years of service to our great country and prayers to the families of those friends and comrades you lost on that horrible day.
